LG on Wednesday unveiled what it calls the world's first Quad HD display for smartphones. The 5.Galaxy Note II features 265 ppi, while LG's own 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro has 400 ppi. 5-inch display comes in at a resolution of 2,560-by-1,440 with
538 pixels per inch, the highest resolution and ppi mobile panel to
date, LG said. For comparison, the 5.5-inch The super-charged display "provides a glimpse at what's next after current Full HD smartphone panels, critical given the growing trend towards larger displays," LG said.
The Quad HD panel provides four times more pixels than a 1,280-by-720 HD display. This should provide "more life-like and crisp images, and even Blu-ray equivalent video, on their smartphones," LG said.
The Quad HD comes in at 1.21mm with a 1.2mm bezel, which is 12 percent slimmer than the 5.2-inch full HD panel LG unveiled last month.
